Could artificial intelligence be the next frontier for traditional Chinese ink drawing? It may seem counter-intuitive to let a robot interpret such a human-oriented artistic style, but this is exactly what acclaimed Hong Kong artist, Victor Wong, is doing to help bring ink art to a whole new level.
On December 1, a live-streamed Conversation with Victor Wong was hosted by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco. At the webinar, San Francisco-based art curator Christine Duval talked with Victor about the relationship between art and technology, and how integrating high-tech multimedia into long-established Chinese art forms may create unprecedented breakthrough. The webinar was the first live-streamed event featured in the arts and culture webpage created by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices in the United States to bring Hong Kong arts and cultural experience to the U.S. audience. At the comfort of your home, you can watch performances by renowned sand painting artist Hoi Chiu, as well as performances by Hong Kong Ballet, Hong Kong Dance Company, Opera Hong Kong, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, to name a few. Check out the webpage to find out more upcoming programs.
