Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco, Ms Jacko Tsang was in Honolulu on an official visit from 24 to 27 February. She met with local dignitaries and government officials as well as business and community leaders to renew and foster ties between Hong Kong and Hawaii.
During her official visit to Hawaii, Ms Tsang met with Hawaii State Senator Glenn Wakai to share Hong King’s latest updates and lay grounds for further collaboration between Hong Kong and Honolulu. Ms Tsang also paid a visit to the Office of Economic Revitalization, City and County of Honolulu, where she met with Executive Director Ms Amy Asselbaye, Deputy Director Ms Kymberly Sparlin Small Business & Finance Program Manager Ms Vivian Pham, and Food Security and Sustainability Program Manager Mr Dexter Kishida. The two offices had a fruitful exchange on future collaboration opportunities and how each city seeks to diversify the economy.
On Feb 25, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco cohosted a business luncheon with the Hong Kong Business Association of Hawaii (HKBAH) in Honolulu. The Hong Kong Luncheon was well-attended by prominent business and community leaders, academia, government officials and dignitaries in Honolulu, including HKBAH President Ms Barinna Poon, HKBAH Honorary Directors Mrs Brenda Foster and Mr Gerald Sumida as well as Hawaii State Senator Stanley Chang.
At the luncheon, Ms Tsang briefed the audience on the latest developments in Hong Kong, including the economic performance and outlook, business opportunities and the current COVID-19 situation. Ms Tsang also addressed questions and issues of concerns from the audience.
Ms Tsang attended HKBAH’s Lunar New Year and 26th anniversary Celebration Gala in Honolulu. The event was the first in-person event of scale of the Association since the pandemic. Delivering the keynote speech at the Celebration Gala, Ms Tsang spoke on Hong Kong’s economic outlook and new budget initiatives to promote Hong Kong’s long-term competitiveness and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
