Webinar on Web3 and Virtual Assets – Video Recording

A webinar titled “Envisioning Web3 and Virtual Assets – a Dialogue with Hong Kong Regulators” was hosted by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco (HKETO San Francisco) on October 4 (San Francisco time). A panel of experts discussed the Web3 and Virtual Asset (VA) development in Hong Kong with a policy and regulatory focus.

In the informative seminar, representatives from the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau (FSTB), the Securities and Futures Commission (FSC) and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) exchanged views on the policy direction of Web3 and VA development in Hong Kong, the new licensing regime for centralized virtual assets trading platforms as well as the proposed regulatory regime for stablecoin.

Introduced by Ms Jacko Tsang, Director of HKETO San Francisco to the audience, Mr Justin To, Principal Assistant Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Ms Elizabeth Wong, Director of Licensing and Head of Fintech Unit, SFC and Mr Ernest Ho, Head of Digital Finance, Monetary Management Department, HKMA were joined by the moderator of the event, Ms Edith Yeung, General Partner of Race Capital. They discussed the opportunities offered in the Web3 and VA space in Hong Kong and how the industry should navigate.
