Elena Chiu gives a piano recital at the office of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco |
Award-winning pianst-composer, Ms Elena Chiu, stopped over in San Francisco and gave a recital at the office of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office on September 12 before participating in the Dixie State University’s Cello Festival as the Composer-in-Residence. Two of her compositions were premiered at the Festival in Utah.
Ms Chiu performed music by Bach, Rachmaninoff, Rautavaara as well as compositions of her own at the recital. In welcoming Ms Chiu, the Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco, Mr Ivanhoe Chang, said that he was grateful that Elena was willing to make a stop in San Francisco to give a short performance. Guests applauded her talent.
Elena has won many awards and performed at various international festivals. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London and is currently pursuing her doctorate studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
