On two consecutive weekends in September, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, San Francisco supported the dragon boat festivals held in Portland, Oregon and Oakland, California.
Over 60 local and visiting teams from across the western United States and Canada participated in the Portland Dragon Boat Festival on September 8 and 9. The festival held races on the Willamette River in downtown Portland, while paddlers and onlookers enjoyed games and learned about Hong Kong at the booth throughout the event.
In the following weekend, the Northern California International Dragon Boat Festival was held at Lake Merritt, Oakland. Over 120 dragon boat teams competed in the races. A Hong Kong Booth was also set up on site to promote Hong Kong’s latest developments.
