Cross-Boundary High Speed Rail Starts Rolling
The Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Rail (Hong Kong Section) heralds a new era in travel.  On September 23, the first MTR Vibrant Express high speed train, carrying 500 passengers, departed from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station for Shenzhenbei Station, marking the start of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high speed rail (Hong Kong Section) service.  The spacious train interior features luxurious seats, wide aisles and amenities such as free wi-fi.

The new service, which connects Hong Kong to the over 25,000 km national high speed rail network, offers a fast, convenient, comfortable cross-boundary connection to 44 Mainland China destinations.  With a top speed of 200 kph (Hong Kong section), the fast train will seriously slash commute time. It will take just 14 minutes to travel between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, via the link. The estimated time to Shenzhen North would be 23 minutes. It will take just 47 minutes to Guangzhou South. Long-haul trips to cities such as Changsha, Guilin and Xiamen will take about four hours.

The newly constructed terminus at Hong Kong West Kowloon Station is designed with passenger convenience in mind. The 400,000-square-metre station features 1,500 signs and 170 information display screens with real-time train service information. MTR staff will be on hand to assist passengers on their high-speed journey aboard the sleek new trains.
