Established in 1986, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco represents the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government in the western part of the United States. We seek to strengthen and broaden Hong Kong’s economic relations with the 19 western states, by enhancing understanding of the HKSAR’s free trade policy and its unique advantages as the two-way platform for overseas companies to access the China market and for Chinese companies to go global.

Hong Kong is Asia’s international finance, trade, logistics and tourism center. With the removal of wine duty in 2008, the HKSAR has become one of the world’s largest wine trading and distribution hubs. Hong Kong is also well-known for its vibrant cultural and creative industries, and has been making great strides in innovation and technology in recent years.

We have a Public Relations Unit that assists the public and the media with their inquiries on matters related to Hong Kong. Our newsletter - e-Hong Kong and regular press releases are published to furnish those who are interested in Hong Kong with timely information on this world's freest economy.

Our Invest Hong Kong Desk, staffed by specialists with technical and industrial background and experience, provides a full range of services and information to entrepreneurs interested in establishing operations in Hong Kong. All services offered, including advice on investment opportunities in Hong Kong, introduction to potential joint-venture partners, etc., are provided free of charge and in strict confidence.

To enhance Hong Kong’s competitiveness, we have set up a Dedicated Team for Attracting Businesses and Talents to proactively reach out to target enterprises and talents, to attract them to pursue development in Hong Kong.
